Repair counts and parts prices come from our own completed jobs over the last 12 months, not from an industry estimate. Ranked by how often each repair needed a replacement part. Many service calls are resolved without one.
Both figures are typical. Individual jobs can run higher, and parts prices vary by model, supplier and availability. You get a written quote before any repair work begins.
Prices exclude the $129.95 diagnostic visit fee and taxes.
A clogged filter is the top cause of poor cleaning, slow draining, and lingering odours.
Clear food debris and mineral buildup from the nozzle holes so water pressure stays even.
Trapped food and mould in the rubber seal are a common source of leaks and musty smells.
Rinse aid helps water sheet off dishes so they dry properly instead of sitting in droplets.
Pre-rinsing wastes water and can confuse sensors that detect how dirty a load actually is.
A cleaning cycle with dishwasher cleaner clears grease film and buildup the daily wash misses.
A dishwasher that won't respond at all is usually a door latch or control issue. See what to check before calling for service.

FAQ
Most popular questions we get asked.
Normal, as long as it is less than an inch and sitting around the filter. That water is meant to be there. It keeps the pump seal from drying out and stops sewer odours coming back up the drain line. Worry when it covers the filter completely or is still there when you start the next load. Dirty standing water counts too. Both point to a filter that needs cleaning or a partial blockage in the drain line, and neither is expensive to sort out. Clean the filter yourself first. If that does not clear it, have someone look at the drain line.
Yes. Cancel the cycle and shut off the water supply. A small amount of water often traces back to a dirty door seal, or to dish soap going in where detergent should have. A leak that comes on fast or keeps building is more likely a cracked hose or a failed water valve, and every cycle you run after that is water going into your floor and cabinets.
Run the numbers before you decide. A new dishwasher is $500 to $1,200, and parts for the repairs we see most often are $35 to $325, parts only, with labour and diagnosis on top. Most dishwashers last 9 to 12 years. If the repair is heading past half the cost of a new machine and you are already past the halfway point on age, buy the new one. Below that, fix it.
